Carter's Surgery

Well, after much pressure, I'm going to attempt to blog. I can't promise I'll be very good at it, but I will try...so here goes!

Today is the BIG day!

We got to the hospital around 11:00 to check in. You can't imagine how hard it was to keep a 4 year old from eating all morning. I had to stand guard in the kitchen, because Mr. Independent likes to just go and make his own breakfast when he gets up. We had them give him some Versed so that he wouldn't freak out when they took him to the OR. It was the funniest thing to see how he was acting, but luckily there were no tears on his part...it was a little different for us. Too bad they couldn't give us some Versed! They took him back to surgery around 1:15 and after about an hour of putting in lines and getting everything prepared to go on bypass, they started probably around 2:30. There are going to give us hourly updates. The 3:30 update was just basically that they were still working and he was stable. We'll post more later.

After Versed, he was totally making us laugh. He was so wobbly, they made him lay in a wagon.

The only way we could get him to smile, was to tell him he had bugs in his teeth and the only way to get them out was a big smile.
